Clearance
measurement system
Fogale capacitive chain is the ideal high temperature clearance measurement
system
for accurate and reliable monitoring of a wide range of clearances.
The system uses advanced patented electronic and sensor processing to
output real time clearance information and may be configured to provide
engine health monitoring, blade vibration and rotordynamic measurements.
Developed in collaboration with ONERA (Office National des Etudes et Recherches
Aéronautiques), this system has worldwide patents.
Blade
transit time measurements
Fogale optical system provides precise blade transit time measurements
for reliable blade vibration control.
The system uses high performance technology for real time vibration
informations, which are vital for aircraft engine health control.
High-performance electronics
MC 902D is the ultimate system for dynamic measurement in high temperature
environments. It is equiped with a line losses compensation system.
The system is so efficient that triaxial structures are not needed to
measure very low capacitance variations with standard capacitance sensors
(coaxial sensors).
Pic-tops detection
MC 902D capacitance modules is equiped to detect and measure tension's
pic-tops of a pulse signal.
This measurement enables to store the pis-tops values of the signal
when the capacitance measurement chain operates in dynamic mode
Sensor technology
MC 902D as been designed to fit most coaxial and triaxial capacitive
sensors.
These sensors are made of a mineral insulator and can resist to temperatures
exeeding 800°C and even 1300°C
The sensor-electronics link is made possible by a cable made of mineral
insulator (sensor's side) and flexible cable made
of teflon
insulator (electronics side).
System calibration
System calibration is easily done either in static or in slow or fast
(normal) rotation.
Measurement principle
Fogale optical probes are based on confocal detection.
When the blade is placed to the focus, light is coupled back into the
fiber and guided to the detector which delivers a voltage
signal.
When the blade move out of focus, the signal drops to zero.
This principle enables to measure the blade transit time in order to
determine jitters due to vibrations
